It’s a big decision to import a colt from the USA but with Tuff the decision was easy.

Purchasing a colt with such genetic potential along with the opportunity to bring new bloodlines to Australia made it a very simple decision. Tuff Lil Spoon (IMP) arrived in Australia at 10 months of age in April 2017.  He impressed with his quiet temperament, athleticism, muscularity and tractable nature.

He started cutting training with Regan Lyons of Top Gun Horse Training in January 2018 with the plan for him to compete at the Tamworth Futurity in June 2019.  This was a big move as Tuff is six months younger than the Australian bred horses.  He was the only imported horse to compete in the Open Futurity.

Tuff competed in the NCHA at 3 years 10 days of age and handled that challenging debut exceptionally well, putting together 2 solid go round runs on extremely tough cattle.  His cowiness and focus were impressive, and it was a solid start to his show career. Covid then interfered with plans for the other cutting Futurities after that.
He then started campdrafting with Synergy Performance Horses and Tuff’s athleticism and supreme ability to read a cow made the transition seamless.  His first campdraft run was in 2023 and he made his debut among the best in the country at Paradise Lagoons in the Stallion Showcase.  Then at Cloncurry in 2023 Tuff showed what he can do, posting the equal top round one score of 91!  He also finished 2nd in the Nebo
Ladies draft with Claudia Spencer.  In early 2024, Tuff came out swinging with a 92 point run at Bowen River and has followed it up in 2025 at Greenvale with scores of 90, 91 & 92 to take the win in the $40,000 Maiden. He is definitely a horse that commands attention and is a joy to watch!
